Wednesday Wondrous Adventures

This weeks' Wednesday Wondrous Adventure is rather weather appropriate and takes us to some interesting locations searching for a somewhat questionable item.

On a snowy afternoon you meet an overbearing prince at a formal event.  The Prince tells you that 15 days journey to the northeast, through the Whispering Cliffs of Vulgarity, can be found the Glowing Mansion of the Burning Brain.  It is rumored that there can be found the Enchanted Flesh Scepter of Lunacy.  But beware, for the prince warns you that it is rumored the Devouring Frog Men of Poisoning live there!

Miniatures Monday

This week we have a swordsman that is in true 25mm scale.  I like the miniature, but he looks like a midget when I stand him beside one of the newer Reaper models. :-(

A quick Preview of something that I'm working on

1,001 More Weird and Wacky Adventure Ideas, coming soon.
The new version will have more text variation and will include adversaries to challenge even the boldest of adventurers.  Here are some examples of the adventures to be had:

XX. On a raw afternoon you cross paths with a boil covered jongleur at a festival.  The jongleur tells you a tale that 7 days travel to the north, through the Shattered Scrublands, is found the Scorching Graveyard.  It is rumored that there can be found the Fateful Magma Club of the Curate.  But beware, for the jongleur warns you that it is believed the Implacable Fortuneteller of Iron stands guard there!

XX. On a gusty night you happen upon a swarthy student in a lonely inn.  The student recites a tale to you that 2 weeks travel to the southwest, near the Pernicious Plateau of Defilement, stands the Silvered Manse of Disgust.  It is reputed that there lay the Cruel Platinum Tongs of the Wino.  But beware, for the student warns you that it is alleged the Malefic Slime Beast of Abuse makes its abode there!

XX. On a bone chilling day you are hailed by a glum drunk near an ancient shrine.  The drunk recites a tale to you that 3 weeks ride to the south, in the Secret Rift of the Ice Gods, is found the Jagged Burial Mound of the Degenerate Priest.  It is said that hidden there is the Blessed Meteoric Iron Scabbard of the Shaman.  But beware, for the drunk warns you that it is thought the Shameful Ancient Artist of Vivisection dismembers all who come near!

So, keep an eye out in the near future!

d100 Table of 100 insane Items (Free PDF)

I've put together a table of 100 Insane Items in PDF form for any fantasy RPG.  It's up to you to stat them out for your particular game system, but the next time you need a MacGuffin for your players to quest for, consider one of these.

Wednesday Wondrous Adventures

This weeks' Wednesday Wondrous Adventure takes us to the Gorge of Savagery!

On a rainy autumn morning you encounter a cordial champion at a crossroads.  The champion discloses to you that 21 days journey to the northwest, over the Crumbling Gorge of Savagery, was built the Blasted Prison.  It is whispered that there is hidden the Adamant Skull of the Plague Bringer.  But beware, for it is said that the Flesh Melting Musician of Abuse stalks that place!

I think that I would be pretty scared of that musician...

Miniatures Monday

This week we have a lizardman bard.  I'm sure that this guy would be an asset to any party, beating his drum to scare away the flies or some nonsense like that.  I'm pretty sure that the only thing more useful than this guy would be an orc bard playing a rusty saw.  :-)  Seriously though, I did have fun painting this one.

Updated Sungor Map

Here is a revised version of my post apocalyptic Sword and Sorcery world done in Campaign Cartographer.  I've filled in more of the blank areas.  A few islands have been left empty though for future development...

Wednesday Wondrous Adventures

I'm kicking off a new weekly thing to go along with Miniatures Monday.  I'm calling it Wednesday Wondrous Adventures, but how wondrous it is remains to be seen.  Each week, I will post a different adventure seed to hopefully spark the imaginations of the the readers of this blog.  I hope that you enjoy them!

On a damp day you meet an elderly Hobo wandering about aimlessly.  The Hobo tells you that 9 days journey to the east, in the Contemptible Mountains of Sorrow, lies the Broken Abbey of Distortion.  It is rumored that there can be found the Enchanted Brass Tome of the Mind Spider

Not sure that it's worth the trip really...

So, years ago, when I was doing a lot of programming, I wrote a random adventure hook creation program.  It came up with some crazy sounding adventures and was really pretty lame, but I loved it.  Sadly somewhere along the way I lost the source code and the input files.  All that I had left was a printout with four "adventures" that it had created.  Well, I finally decided to dust off my very rusty programming skills and write a new version.  The original was written in perl, but this time I decided to try python.  Here is the results of the first run of the new version:

On a humid afternoon you meet a dandyish Bard at an inn.  The Bard tells you that 6 days journey to the south, in the dreaded chasm of impurity, can be found the depraved bridge of defilement.  It is rumored that there is hidden the broken lead short sword of derangement.

I imagine that a lot of adventurers would just say, "Yeah, thanks, but I think we'll pass..."  :-)

Miniatures Monday

This week we have a red cloaked assassin from the Wastelands of Sungor.  Not my best work, but then they can't all be gems I guess. :-)

Miniatures Monday

My first miniature of 2015 is quite fittingly, a barbarian.  Here we see a wandering barbarian leaning upon his great sword and pointing to the horizon.  What is he pointing at?  Could it be the approaching armies of his enemies, or could it be the treasure filled tower of some evil wizard?
What do you think he is pointing at?

Happy Birthday Professor Tolkien

Who would have been 113 years old today.
I feel like I should bake a nice seed cake and sit by the fire.
