Quite possibly the best $5 you'll ever spend

Available here.  I'm really glad to see that WOTC is making some of the older stuff available to a new generation.

Robert E. Howard

Today is the birthday of Robert Ervin Howard, creator of Conan the Cimmerian and one of my favorite authors.  He lived just over thirty years, but made an indelible mark on the fantasy genre.  I drink to his shade.

Miniatures Monday

Today, in the final Miniatures Monday of 2012, we see a mysterious wandering wizard.  Is he perhaps more than he seems?

Well, I posted 51 completed miniatures in 2012.  The only day that I skipped was Christmas Eve.  Not too shabby, but I doubt that I'll be able to keep up that level of productivity in 2013, but who knows?

We named the dog Indiana...

The University of Chicago received a rather interesting package the other day addressed to Henry Walton Jones Jr..

I never get stuff like this in the mail.  Maybe I should change my name to Pennsylvania. :-)

From the Earth to the Moon

Forty years ago, as I at the age of three, eagerly looked forward to the arrival of Santa Claus, man left the moon for what has so far been the last time.  Gene Cernan left with these words:

"I'm on the surface; and, as I take man's last step from the surface, back home for some time to come — but we believe not too long into the future — I'd like to just [say] what I believe history will record. That America's challenge of today has forged man's destiny of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return: with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17."

I was born into a spacefaring nation.  Children born today cannot say that.
